No Reef to Be Found so Hiked the Trails on Manjack; Sail to Crab Cay/Angelfish Point

While we can see the reef about half a mile offshore that protects the cays from the ocean surf, often there are reefs close to shore. This morning we went in search of just such a reef, hiking across a nice woodsy trail to the eastern side of the cay.  We swam out about 300 yards and saw nothing so we returned to land and walked the fine trails of Manjack seeing huge epiphytes in many of the trees.  Back on Juno, our new friend Phil from Desperado II stopped by reporting back from the outer reef that he’d seen many lobsters (out of season) but no conch and so came back empty handed.  If we’d had more confidence in our dinghy, we’d snorkel the outer reef but we decided to head north sailing on a reach with SW winds 15 and building to the other side of the Sea of Abaco dropping anchor at Crab Cay where about 6 others were settled. Enjoyed our Cinco de Mayo Pina Coladas (with Harry’s homemade coconut cream) and Indian for dinner. Looking ahead for a weather window to cross north to the USA, it is looking like Wed or Thursday will be best.

Below is a small sample of the beautiful flowers we regularly encountered
