Sat. March 12 A Change in Plans Land us off Big Majors for the Approaching Cold Front

Due to a conversation yesterday with Eric and Katie at Rachel’s Bubbles and a revised forecast calling for hardly any wind from the west and Northwest, we made a last minute decision to ride out the front in the protection of  Big Majors Cay instead of Rock Sound Harbour in Eleuthera as originally planned. So instead of sailing about 40 miles in 7 hours downwind today (winds were S at 15 knots moving SE @15 knots) we sailed upwind 10 miles and 4 hours later arriving at Big Majors Cay. About 50 other boats were already situated in the anchorage off the Cay but it is large and we found a good spot to drop our anchor. While the anchorage has good protection from the north and east, it did not provide any protection from the wind or waves that were moderate in size given the 15 knots of SW winds. Bouncing up and down for five or six hours until the winds finally died down at sunset wore on our nerves a bit but we tried to distract ourselves from the constant motion by washing the dirt and salt from Juno’s decks.

We aren't alone in choosing Big Majors for this next front
