Before departing for a long sail to Nassau, we went ashore at 7:15 am to jog through Current Settlement. Along the way we met a friendly a guide who offered his services if we wanted to drift snorkel the cut with him but we didn't have the time - perhaps next time as it is supposed to be good snorkeling. We continued our 30 min jog and took a quick swim to cool down, then hauled anchor and sailed to Nassau with a 10 knot breeze out of the east. Upon gaining clearance to enter the harbor from Nassau Harbor Control, we thought about squeezing into the first anchorage adjacent to the five cruise ships in port but soon realized we were downwind of their exhaust so we moved into the inner harbor (Potter’s Cay) anchoring just off a marina and as it turned out, downwind of the cargo docks that had many boats and diesel engines running. Oh well. Strong currents in the harbor had boats (including us) hanging with sterns into the wind and hanging every which direction. As we were eating dinner and dusk was upon us, we decided the distance between us and a catamaran was too close for comfort so we re-anchored in the twilight slightly closer to the cargo ships, not only spewing diesel exhaust but as it was Saturday night, they were also blaring loud music.
